Ways to Give

A Kingdom for Generations Campaign

Help us complete our campaign for the Alpha Delta Chapter of Chi Phi Fraternity at the Pennsylvania State University.

Fifteen years ago, Chi Phi Alpha Delta launched the Foundation for the Kingdom campaign with an ambitious $2.2M fundraising goal. The primary objective of that campaign was to finance the renovations needed as the house turned 75 and the Borough required sprinkler systems be added. We ultimately raised ~$1.5M and took on additional debt to finance a critical subset of those renovations characterized as “Phase 1.”

Thanks to the support of our alumni, we were able to reopen the chapter house and reclaim our national charter in 2013. This milestone marked the beginning of a new era for our fraternity. Over the past decade, our chapter has thrived, growing to 75+ active brothers and establishing a strong presence in the Penn State community. The chapter house is fully occupied, providing a stable financial base for operating expenses.

Despite our significant progress, we still face capital constraints for maintenance projects. A few years ago, we were able to raise additional funds quickly to replace the club room floors, which was part of “Phase 2” in the original campaign. Now, we turn to what was originally classified as “Phase 3” for a maintenance fund to fund ongoing replacements, repairs and upkeep. Relying on sporadic fundraising every few years when there’s an urgent need is not a sustainable solution. We need your support to ensure the longevity and prosperity of our fraternity.

Today, we’re launching the Kingdom for Generations campaign with a $500k fundraising goal to finish what we started fifteen years ago. In addition to financing immediate maintenance needs, the remaining funds will establish an endowment to be a permanent source of funding ongoing maintenance and capital expenditures for years to come. Each year, the endowment is paid out as an annual distribution, while any appreciation in excess of this annual distribution is retained in the endowment so it can grow and support future needs. We would sincerely appreciate your support.

Based on a careful assessment of our current and projected maintenance needs, we anticipate $30k–$40k of expenses annually. Some of the furniture and equipment replaced 10 years ago are fully depreciated and ready to be replaced. Having this endowment will also ensure we are ready for major and/or emergency repairs should we need to replace part of the roof or we experience a boiler system failure. Here are the areas of immediate need which are representative of the types of expenditures we experience annually:

  • Chapter room repairs and refresh (ceiling, walls, floor, lightning, ventilation)
  • Kitchen equipment replacement (ice maker)
  • Washer/dryer replacement (one of two pairs)
  • Club room furniture replacement (sofas, chairs, carpet)
  • Library furniture replacement
  • Driveway resurfacing/sealing/repavement
  • Clubroom floor refinishing
  • HVAC boiler repair and flushing
  • Internet and wireless upgrades
  • Security system upgrades
  • Chimney/fireplace maintenance
  • Front walkway repairs
  • Flagpole lighting

In honor of your commitment, we’ll be adding to our Brick Engravings on the Front Patio.
