Philanthropy/Chi Phi Classic

The Brothers of the Alpha Delta Chapter are excited for the opportunity to host and participate in Philanthropy events and initiatives for our first semester of operation. Giving back to the community is a great way for brothers to maintain a positive reputation in our community. Over the course of the last year we have worked to cultivate a culture of service among our brotherhood and the brothers are taking an active role in philanthropy. This has been a powerful positive force in our brotherhood, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. Looking back, we kicked off the semester with a Habitat for Humanity build in Philipsburg, PA. Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organization that works to bring people together to build homes. Since its founding in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 13.5 million people in over 70 countries around the world find strength and stability through access to affordable housing and Chi Phi is proud to support such a great organization and cause.

This year we have also been creative with new philanthropic efforts. This semester we participated in a Text-A-Thon for Bedsheets to support the Boys and Girls Club of America. Throughout the 24 hours brothers spread the world about LolaBird and their wonderful bedsheets to their families, peers and friends from back home. By the end of the Text–A-Thon brothers raised almost 1,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of America. The brothers at Alpha Delta are committed to making the community a better place through their financial contributions and with their time. Our brotherhood understands that their actions have an impact on their community and strive to make that impact a positive one.

The Chi Phi Classic will be our flagship philanthropy event of the spring semester on April 14th. The Chi Phi classic utilizes the Kingdom’s huge backyard and volleyball court for a single elimination beach volleyball tournament for Penn State Students to enjoy. The classic is set to be a beach volleyball tournament where teams will compete for the charity of the organizations choosing. Half of the total proceeds will go to The Boys and Girls Club of America and the other half will go to the philanthropy of the winning team’s choosing. We are planning to have food and refreshments available for purchase and donations will also be accepted at the door. We are planning to host 16 teams at the chapter house and hope to raise $2,000 during this event. For more information or if you’d like to donate, please contact our Philanthropy Chairman Brent McNeel at (814)441-4055.
